How to Get the Best Linens for Your Home

Fall is the perfect time to begin nesting again as the summer slows down and we once again have more time to relax in our homes. One thing we always like to do in our own spaces around this time of year is upgrade our linens to make sure we are refreshed for the fall and winter seasons.

Soft white spa Turkish cotton towels

No.1 Towels

There is nothing that feels more luxurious in your own home than having stacks and stacks of fresh towels to choose from. In order to keep them looking great, it’s best to think through the exact kind you might be shopping for. If you have guests over often or are shopping for a second home where visitors are always staying, it may be smart to use darker shades of blue or green, which won’t require as much maintenance. If you are shopping for yourself and have more time to keep up with bleaching and proper care then large white fluffy towels are always our first pick! The Spa Turkish Cotton Towels from The White Company have a great weight and come in both a white and sand color that will add an elegant touch to your bathroom. Another option is the Flax Waffle Terry Bath Towel from Pottery Barn, which has a great texture that allows for the towel to dry out quicker. If you’re looking for towel sets for that second home or for children who might not handle a white towel with proper care, Onsen has bath towel sets in a variety of unique, beautiful colors! Perfect to upgrade your guest bathroom with!

Best Sheets for Fall and Winter

No.2 Sheets

Your fitted and top sheets are what get the most wear and tear out of all your linens, so it’s best to have a few options to rotate through. Because of this, it can be fun to have a few different styles that work with your duvet cover. A classic white linen set, like this one from Quince is a great option and you can even get a few lighter colors if you are worried about the white being difficult to keep clean. Using a soft gray or a light yellow can have the same clean and chic look without all the upkeep. A trend we are seeing in bedding right now is the return to printed sheets! Floral and plaid styles are on the market all thanks to the “Coastal Grandmother” trend that started on social media. These floral percale sheets from Potterybarn come in two different colorways that can easily be paired with a simple duvet cover. Another company to check out is Piglet in Bed, which just came out with the cutest gingham linen sheets in three different colorways. These work well in any season, and nothing feels better than fresh linen! Get playful with your bedding this season, and keep more than just one set on hand!

Throw blanket for Fall and Winter

No.3 Throw Blankets

The finishing touch to any bed and the best part of any living or family room is of course a good chunky throw blanket. Having a basket of a few comfy throws in the living room is a must, for both your own relaxation-and anyone else who may be staying in the space. Blankets add both a pop of color or neutral texture depending on what style you go with, and are one of those functional and fun elements that we interior designers love! This Waffled Black Stripe Throw from Rejuvenation has such a classic striped pattern that is balanced well next to the fun fringe. It would sit beautifully on any leather seating, adding in that plushness to keep it all nice and comfortable. For the bedroom, a softer blanket like this one from Sunday Citizen can add a little color to your bedding setup. It is best to get a machine washable blanket for your bed, especially if you’re the type that likes to enjoy coffee in bed or if it’s a bed in a guestroom. A throw blanket just adds that perfect cherry on top that some of our cozier rooms always benefit from!
