Last-Minute Thanksgiving Interior Design Hacks to Wow Your Guests
Thanksgiving is arguably one of the best holidays in terms of food, family, and fun. People come together from all over the country to celebrate and catch-up on the past year, and everyone loads their plates with food because their eyes are bigger than their stomachs. Here at HSH Designs, we know that if you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner, you know what a big task you’ve taken on. From cooking dinner for extended family to setting the table, you might want a tip or two on how to make the space your guests walk into a memorable one.
Use Rustic Tones
Keeping a consistent color palette is going to be one of the best tips to maintain a cohesive look to your home. Try using textured glasses and muted natural colors like beiges and browns, rusted reds and subtle oranges.
Utilize Your Entryway
As the first place your guests enter into, you’ll want it to be an apt representation of your home. Think about the feelings you want to evoke with that space and create a beautiful setup. Hay bales, pumpkins, and candles are great starters to making your entryway stand out.
Place Pumpkins Galore
While jack-o-lanterns may seem October-ish, using pumpkins as decorations certainly isn’t confined to one month. Gords allow for more color, texture, and size than strictly round orange pumpkins. If you’re not as keen on placing real pumpkins, we love these raffia pumpkins that we offer in the HSH Home Fall Box.
Have Warm Lighting
Using lighting to your advantage is a great subtle way for you to control how your guests feel no matter what room they’re in. If you want people to hang out more in the kitchen and dining room, make sure that the lighting there is warm and inviting and soft. For places you don’t want people hanging out in as much, maybe opt for whiter or dimmer lighting.
Display Fresh Flowers
With so many elements of the cold months having to do with the loss of vibrancy, bring back some of that life with fresh flowers. Do what feels right. If you love color, go for it. If you don’t want the floral arrangements to steal the show, opt for more white and green florals for a classic fall centerpiece.
