Refreshing Starfish Cove’s Home Interior Design: Before and After

Welcome to Starfish Cove! Join us as we show the before and after transformation of this stunning waterfront home on Anna Maria Island. What stands about us at HSH Collective Home and Design is we believe no project is ever too small! Whether you’re looking for a full-service design, rental design, or architectural design, we can help.

With this home, we worked closely with the client to bring a breath of life to each space while maintaining their budget. Let’s dive in!

Exterior Design:

We started by giving a small paint job to the exterior for a fresh, coastal vibe. Say goodbye to the burnt red shutters and front door, and hello to a refreshing blue hue that instantly welcomes you to paradise.

Next, we added updated outdoor pendants, and we can’t forget the small details like why we named this project Starfish Cove! You’ll find hints of them all throughout the home starting with the starfish-shaped doorbell.

Home Design Refresh:

Stepping inside, we waved goodbye to the deep blue walls of the living room and kitchen, opting instead for a bright cream-colored white that floods the space with light and airiness. You’ll find this color throughout the whole home, as we wanted to keep consistency, openness, and all the natural lighting that bounces off the walls.

Dining Room Design:

We swapped out the light fixtures like the traditional 6-tier chandelier to a modern Shades of Light brass Elongated Spoke Chandelier. The dining area itself boasts a charming wood table surrounded by 6 rattan chairs and 2 dining chairs with slipcovers, creating an inviting gathering spot for all of their family and friends.

Small Kitchen Renovation:

We loved how open this floorplan was, making extra seating at the bar such a great spot for a constant flow of conversation from the kitchen, dining area, or living room! We bid farewell to builder-grade pendants over the bar and added similar brass pendants that match the modern feel of the dining room chandelier.

This L-shaped kitchen had much unused cabinet space and by removing those extra cabinets and the built-in microwave, we opened up the space, allowing the space for an offset backsplash that goes all the way up the wall.

We loved incorporating the half-arched window around the tile for a touch of originality to the home while, of course, keeping all of that gorgeous lighting.

Guest Bedroom Design:

Each bedroom got a major makeover like this one where we swapped the dark grey walls for the same cream palette throughout and we introduced modern, beach-inspired furnishings.

We kept things clean and natural with the crisp, white bedding and neutral walls while having pops of coastal with the blue headboard and ombre lamps.

In bedroom 2 we removed the the cluttered furniture and opted for a more minimalist approach with a bright pink bedframe, fluffy pillows, and an updated fan.

Primary Bedroom:

The inspiration for the primary bedroom was meshing the indoor with the outdoor. We started this vision by painting over the burnt red walls with a creamy white color. We added neutral furniture like the Universal Furniture end tables and a Fourhands dresser which complements the coastal blue throw pillows, and lamps, and we can’t forget to mention the starfish accent chairs, one of our favorite pieces of the house!

Poolside Design:

Outside, by the pool, we made things simple and modern. We removed the obstructive fencing, swapped out the old loungers for something sleeker, and maximized the views of the Tampa Bay.

Now it’s the perfect spot to hang out and enjoy the view.
