Guest bedrooms don’t have to be filled with leftover and mismatched furniture. Your guests deserve to be equally as comfortable as you feel in your master bedroom. Even when you don’t have a guest staying with you, we want each room of your house to feel beautiful and complete. Keep reading for five quick and easy ways to transform your guest bedroom.

Get a New Bed Frame

While this can be seemingly simple, this can completely totally transform the look of the entire room. While a simple, platform bed frame can do the trick, it doesn’t do much visually for your room. I recommend getting a sturdy wooden frame, something rustic with texture and see how it transforms the bed from a necessary component to an eye-catching feature. Having a headboard makes all the difference. Not only do they make a statement, but they provide structure for your bed and a great prop for your accent pillows.

Upgrade Your Rug

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to say goodbye to your old rug, this is it. Another simple, yet totally transformative step is replacing your rug with something new and fresh. I am always recommending adding texture and natural products into your space and the rug is no exception. My favorite right now is a chunky, jute rug. Especially for guests coming from out-of-town to visit, the natural textures of the woven jute will really make them feel like they’re on vacation.

Get Matching Bedside Tables

We’ve all stayed at a friend’s house and struggled to find an outlet to charge our phone or a place for a glass of water. Providing your guests with two options not only will save them some time and stress, it also ties the whole room together. A key element in any space is achieving balance and symmetry. Having matching bedside tables makes that so much easier.

Invest in New Bedding

New bedding is the most obvious way to elevate your guest room and tie everything together. I tell my clients to opt for a neutral bedspread, allowing freedom to accessorize with fun throw pillows, colorful artwork and bold throws. Having that neutral base creates a clean slate to let the other decor items really pop and shine without being overwhelming.

Check the Lighting

Lighting is critical in showing off all your perfectly curated furniture and decor items and making your guests feel warm and comfortable. If your space is too moody and dark, nobody will be able to see the details. If it’s too bright, it will feel cold, unwelcoming, and not very relaxing. Create a warm and comforting ambiance for your guests. Grab a new simple floor lamp for the corner of the room or go for matching table lamps for those new bedside tables, whichever compliments and enhances the natural lighting in the room the best.
