Behind the Scenes: Cornerstone Church Lakewood Ranch
This was such an exciting project for our team as we were able to make bold design choices using lots of colors! The client wanted to create a space that the community of Cornerstone Church or anyone in the Lakewood Ranch area could use as a meeting, playgroup, or study space. The end result is a vibrant space, a unique church, and a project that we are excited to feature!

About The Project:
Everything about this project was exciting! It was my first time working on a church and I love Phil and Hilary, the pastor and assistant at Cornerstone Church. Phil’s vision and enthusiasm to bring his concept to his congregation was infectious.
Our inspiration was actually Phil himself. He is well-traveled and so inspired in his faith and how he wants to present the faith to his congregation and all who visit this church that we just followed his lead. It allowed us to really explore our designs. I loved that Phil and Hilary were not afraid of color! A favorite aspect was the coffee bar, it’s pretty special and we loved being a part of that design.
Another element we loved was the children’s wing. It was pretty epic with the wave wall! The artwork in the hallways of this wing was inspired by a children’s bible that each newborn in the congregation is given. The illustrations of the bible are so fantastic so I went ahead and got permission from the artist, and blew up the posts from the bible to use as artwork on the walls. When you’re walking in these hallways, you truly feel like you’re walking through the pages of that Bible!
A special detail we added was the wall of mentors, who are the foundation of Pastor Phil’s explanation of the church. I chose to blow up the photos of these founding fathers/mothers and then wash them in color to make the final images more abstract!
Our focus was a place for the entire community of all ages to come to feel welcome. Phil wanted it to feel curated and welcoming, not stuffy but not too old and tired. Not the average expected church feel. Vibrant and full of life.
To now go back and be able to see the space that we created being used and loved by the congregation is the most rewarding project I have done in a long time. Not only were we able to work with such an amazing team of people, but it’s so rewarding knowing that our designs will be enjoyed by so many individuals in the Lakewood Ranch community.
